This looks like the last ever Pizza Bowl as next year, the Detroit Lions are getting into the college bowl hosting business.
Because the organization knows it won't be hosting any late December playoff games in the future because it is doomed, it entered into a six-year agreement with the B1G 10.
The partnership with the MAC is over and the bowl was moved to a little more prestigious date of Dec. 30. One ESPN report speculated the ACC could be tied in, but the company line thus far has been a second team of an at-large origin.
Hopefully it A) pulls better than the 8th place B1G 10 team, since dog-ass teams like that are rarely bowl eligible and seldom played here and B) Gets a decent second conference tie-in. Because after all, if we wanted to watch B1G 10 crossovers with the MAC, we would ... wait, isn't that what the month of September cream-puff scheduling is already for, around here?
