San Diego State 34, Houston 10
In the first quarter Houston led 10-0 - and then the highlights stopped for the Cougars. San Diego State took control - but not with a splash - more in a death by a thousand cuts method.
RB Donnell Pumphery ran for 115 yards and a touchdown, thus replacing Ron Dayne at the top of the all-time NCAA rushing list (although not if you count the bowl games by fat Ron). Co-RB Rashad (Bad) Penny contributed nothing.
