Jordan Rules

BBVA Compass Bowl Review

In a game only gambling degenerates, bowl pool fans or fantasy addicts like us could appreciate, Vanderbilt hung on to defeat Houston before a crowd of at least 300 people.

No matter how brutal the game was, some key fantasy implications arose with the top three scoring teams - Patrick, George and David all having one player involved.

Topping that list was SEC record-setter Jordan Matthews of Vanderbilt who caught five of his team's six (!) completions for 143 yards and two touchdowns - each of 50 yards long.

Houston had 28 yards at halftime and although Vandy jumped out 24-0 by then, neither squad had much to brag about. For the game, both teams combined for six turnovers and were 3-for-34 on third downs total. I know.

Houston QB John O'Korn finished with 228 yards and two touchdowns with an extra point of rushing production.

Top Cougars receiver Deontay Greenberry (left) had six catches for 96 yards and a TD - including a 67-yard blown coverage grab that bailed his box score out.
