Rakeem the Dream

Boca Raton Bowl Review

The scene: Halftime. Marshall QB Rakeem Cato had about 100 yards passing and had run for one score.

Unnamed fantasy owner text: "You have to bust balls over Cato. Wasn't he JD's first pick?"

And that is, as they say, when the "shit got real."

In the second half Cato had almost 200 yards passing (281 overall) with three touchdown strikes and ran in a second score. All told, he racked up 29 points for Team JD with one of the best second stanzas we've seen in awhile.

Tommy Shuler.
Cato's fave target was Team Chip's WR Tommy Shuler with 18 catches for 185 and 1 TD.

Also shining was Team Patrick RB Devon Johnson with 131 and a score.

Northern Illinois looked overmatched nearly the entire night as the low point had to be its last possession when they all but waved a white flag with two dive runs into piles of Marshall players then QB Drew Hare air-mailed a throw away pass out of bounds. Ever hear of garbage points?

(JD) QB Cato, Marshall 29 points
(CHIP) WR Shuler, Marshall 15 points
(PATRICK) RB Johnson, Marshall 18
(DAVID) QB Hare, N. Illinois 10 points
(HERBIE) WR Brown, N. Illinois 3 points
