Spartan Effort

Cotton Bowl Review

Intensity, drama and most of all fantasy magic was at play in MSU's 42-41 win over Baylor.

It isn't too often that you beat a team that passes for more than 600 yards, but the Spartans did, in a game that had everything.

Michigan State RB Jeremy Langford (162 rushing, 3 TDs) pos
ted 24 points for Team Chip, and was the lone fantasy star in green and white.

Baylor Bears lasted a little longer than normal on draft night, but those who took chances were mostly rewarded.

QB Bryce Petty closed out his career with 550 yards and three scoring passes with an extra one rushing. The Spartan defense did make life tough at times, evidenced by his -36 rushing yards thanks to a barrage of sacks.

Freshman WR KD Cannon had the starring role of Petty's supporting cast, posting 21 points.

With so many Golden Bears fantasy mouths to feed, there wasn't much left after Cannon to spread among the other four receivers and a running game that got ignored.

But, you have to love a 400-pound backup guard catching a 20-yard TD pass. Best line of the day by Dave Pasch: "If you're a Spartan, you have to find that disheartening."
